Bac Ha Sunday Market


Bac Ha Sunday Market is for ethnic minorities to meet, socialise, sell and shop. Colorful clothings differentiate the various tribes. The market comprises of many stalls and is very crowded. In addition tourists come to share the ambience and purchase handicrafts.

Most Flower Hmong ladies go shopping with a basket like the ones you see above. It is used to bring produce to sell and subsequently bring home their needs.

Chillies are sold in their fresh and dried form. They are bundled to look like a feather duster.

Getting together at a makeshift restaurant where stew pork seems to be their favorite. The picture below shows the layout of the restaurant from the kitchen. Subsequent picture shows what is in the pot – it is pork meat with internal organs with herbs.
